Chinese two-wheeled electric vehicle specialist Yadea has big plans for the global market in 2023. It plans to launch its first naked sports bike model, the Keeness, in Asia and Europe before the end of the year.

As for the Keeness, it takes the form of a sporty naked with a focus on performance and affordability. According to Yadea, the Keeness is designed to give enthusiasts a sporty driving experience in a zero-emission vehicle. In terms of performance, it is similar to that of a 150cc gasoline motorcycle. Its electric motor sends power to the rear wheel through a chain drive. It has a rated power of 5.5 kilowatts and a maximum of 10 kilowatts, which corresponds to about 13 hp. The top speed is rated at 100 km/h.

While the power figures of the bike may seem insignificant, it is important to note that electric motors produce instant torque at any time, across the entire rev range. As such, when it comes to real-world performance, you can expect the Yadea Keeness to be much faster than a normal 150 cc bike. As for the battery, the Keeness is equipped with a pair of 72-volt, 32 amp-hour lithium batteries with a total capacity of 4,608 watt-hours. These batteries are supposedly capable of delivering up to 140 km on a single charge.

As for the base of the bike, the Keeness has 17-inch front and rear wheels with rather thin tires measuring 100/80 in the front and 130/70 in the rear. The bike’s suspension consists of an inverted front fork and a monoshock with adjustable preload at the rear, while braking is controlled by a pair of disc brakes at the front and rear.

Yadea hopes to make the Keeness available on the market in the second half of 2023, with an Asian launch planned for July 2023. In the meantime, the bike is expected to hit European roads – Spain in particular – before the end of the year.
